| I just spent an hour or so reading some of my old posts ( I know, I said I deleted them, but I just made them private). Some of them were mundane, some were trite, but most were funny, and smart, and always honest. I forgot that I wrote like that.
I wish life were always like that.
The most striking thing about today, is that I had the opportunity to read about my life, six years ago, when I was trying to figure out what I was going to do with it. Now that I've gotten to where I thought I was trying to go, it all looks so different than I had imagined. I'm sitting here in front of a new mac, at a new desk in an entirely different city on the other side of Canada. I'm a professional designer working for an established firm in Toronto. I live with my boyfriend, I'm thinking about getting a dog, I discovered I'm lactose intolerant, and I'm starting to get a little bit of gray hair at my temples (I'm told this is very sexy for a man).
Life hasn't panned out the way I expected it too, but every moment, every doubt, every struggle has lead me to a place where I feel thankful, and rewarded. I am so glad that I had this opportunity to remember who I was, for an important period of time in my life, for a very short period of time today.

| March 8, 2003 - January 31, 2006
It has been almost two years since I've written anything.
I decided to delete all of my previous entries. They are embarrassing, and until today I forgot that people actually read them.
Problem solved.
I am gone. Again.

| T minus 48 hours to departure. Still time to shop.
Oh yeah. Today I hit Holt Renfrew, and it was good. You gotta love Holts. I had other errands to run but I got sidetracked and bought a new blue zip-up, a black polo and some new underwear. I recommend the C-IN2 Lo No Show Army. It's cut low enough so that one cannot see them above one's jeans, and they look really good on. Their website is pretty hot too.
Yesterday my very good friend Elizabeth had a layover in Vancouver on her way back to Edmonton from her law conference and so we made a date to have drinks at the Fairmont at Vancouver International. Traffic was awful and I was late but I managed to make it to the bar with enough time to down a dirty martini before escorting Liz to her gate. I actually ran to get to the hotel. I don't run for anyone... she's amazing though so I made an exception.
After Elizabeth departed I puttered around the airport for a little bit, got an americano and thought about my upcoming travels. I realized how lucky I am to be so fortunate to have these experiences... but also how hard I work to make these things happen for me. It may have been the Grey Goose but I felt good.
Speaking of the Fairmont, I heard today that an American developer and a Saudi Prince have purchased the Canadian Farimont chain for about four billion. Fairmont hotels are the most beautiful places, where I have had such great times. The Banff Springs, the Hotel Vancouver, The Empress, and of course the Royal York in Toronto all have been the stage for many a vacation, dinner or just a drink with good friends. I sincerely hope they never change.
In creepy news: The Pickton murder trial began today in New Westminster where my mom lives and where I have been staying. Something about the trial of a man who "allegedly" murdered 27 women and fed them to his pigs is enough to make me glad I'm leaving town. Shudder... | | |
| Fashion, diet pills, cooking with squash and the new lycra: What can it do for you?
It's all about fashion.
My trip looms ever closer and yes, I am finally getting excited about it. Yesterday brought more appointments and errands to complete. I went to the dentist in the morning and to the travel clinic for more shots. I am now prepared for anything, except a fashion disaster.
Speaking of which, after two troublesome appointments I took the ferry from downtown across the harbour to North Vancouver to go shopping. Well actually, I just needed one thing. The Nice Collective sweater that I wanted from Moule' wasn't available in my size downtown so I had to head to the north shore and pick it up at Park Royal. I love it...I'm wearing it right now.
To be perfectly honest, I been shopping all week (I have to look fashion-forward in Hong Kong). I'm incredibly picky so after 12 hours I was excited to purchase a new pair of Energie jeans at Nacional Clothing on West 4th. They are straight legged, almost tapered, and very hot and distressed. Not dirty though, that's ugg.
I also picked up some shorts and polo's earlier in the week and a pair of sneakers from Zebra Club. I really need to wait and shop on my vay-kay.
Moo-Lay... the diet pills made her do it.
I got my haircut on Tuesday at Ego on South Granville. My stylist Taylor was great, but he wore more makeup than Anna Nicole Smith (TrimSpa Baby!) I'm loving my new cut. It's edgy but not too over-the-top for me. I may be sporting a mini-mullet!

In house wife news...
I'm making butternut squash soup today. The squash has already been cooked in the oven and it is now cooling. I have to swing by the market and pick up some more celery to saute before I finish my stock. This soup is perfect for a gray day like today. Yum.

Randomness...
Next Hallowe'en I want to go as one half of the Ambiguously Gay Duo! (Pictured below, they are on the left.)

| Dorian Revisited:
I knew that vanity had taken a hold of me when I tried to pluck a stray hair from my foot today. As fate would have it, I cracked my leg on the vanity while trying to do this and I now have my leg elevated with ice on it and a sizable bump to show.
The irony is not lost on me.
